Our team is focused on both developing EDGE-Classic and making content for it, so a GZDoom edition would not be planned.

You can't crouch or jump in it. Is there an addon to change that? Update: actually, the starting position of the game was the part of it where I missed those features. Their absence is really not a problem for playing the rest of the game. Which I am really enjoying.

Might be a bit late; but for this particular mod you would have to open the WAD, open the DDFLEVL lump, and remove NO_JUMPING and NO_CROUCHING from each level's definition. By default, the program just follows whatever you have set in the menu but DDFLEVEL can override this.

How come there's coffee everywhere in this game, but the "use" key won't let you drink it. I think that should be an opportunity to add health points. Oh, and it should give you more points than toilet water in the sense that one cup gives you an immediate point surge. Instead of slurping every point.

How cam you keep from accidently doing a quick safe at a death spot. I have lost so much progress by clicking [F6] instead of [F9] when I am at zero point. Every game I've played will not let you save with 0 health points except this one. I looked for an addon do add a kind of fail safe feature that prevents you from doing that, but couldn't find one. I am not familiar with scripting, but I am pretty sure the answer is a conditional If then statement. What's the statement and where do you put? I know somebody is saying while "Why don't read the prompt that asks you if you want to do the save?". Well, for me after doing it some many times, I don't always double check it.

Other Doom source ports have this same behavior; it is indeed why there is an additional confirmation required before overwriting a save slot even when using the quicksave key.

You misunderstood. They keep you from overwriting a save when your alive and would lose a better more desirable position in the save or maybe forgot you wanted a new save file and keep the old one. They will not let you override a save when your dead, because obviously no one would desire that. The only thing you might possibly want to save from that is a screenshot.

You have misunderstood me, then. Other Doom source ports will also allow you to overwrite a save even when the player is dead. There are no plans at this time to change the port to allow a modder to subvert the user's ability to save the game at any time of their choosing, even if this means ignoring the save overwrite message and saving at an inopportune time, which does include after death.

EDIT: One practical example is that, through voodoo dolls, the player can actually be at zero health but in a 'zombie state' where they can still move and interact with items (see Doomwiki.org). Maps may use this mechanic intentionally, and we would have no practical way to differentiate this from other types of death when it comes to blocking save functionality.

Well, that's certainly informative. But I don't think this game has that functionality. If it did, I would certainly use it to look around and see where I missed something like the position of a sniper. In the games I've played, and nowhere near as many as you, with maybe an exception or two, they all have not allowed me to save when my health status is zero. I know this because I play to get better by trying different tactics in difficult situations. So, I do a lot of saving and reloading and at least once in every game hit F6 instead of F9 and discover the mistake when the save doesn't reload, and I have to hit F9 to load like I intended.

The zombie state I describe, as per the article, would require an intentional setup on the part of the map creator, and is not something that 'just happens' when the player dies. I am not claiming to have played many games, I am just describing part of the rationale behind not changing the behavior of the program.
